One size fits all

Kilts are not ‘One Size’ dress items. You would think that it would be easy to go to the rental shop, put it on and look smart. How wrong could you be, and there are hundreds of examples out there; just look at some wedding guests, a rugby international and the ’sassenachs’.
Get it right and the length should be just half way across the knee and nowhere near your socks. Those wearing kilts well below the knee and above knee, just look silly. And then there’s the Sporran – again it should sit a couple of inches below the navel. Not easy when the navel is a foot away from the kilt!
And remember, the kilt you tried on in the shop, had reserved for you, delivered or collected, just might not be the one you put on an hour before the ceremony. Try it on now – you have been warned.
